Default #317 - OMG it's started !!!!

Well 317 has been sitting on the driver for nearly a month since I collected it from Ken

Now I suspect that it's probably the highest mileage car on the road and also a standard spec car with a sunroof.

Now I take my hat off to Ken as he's clearly lavished time on money on it, but it's definitely a "used" car

Now the trouble is, I can't leave it alone, so in addition to the parts that Ken kindly included, the number of boxes is growing daily........

To date:

Rear electric windows ( and a new BCU for facelift cars with remote boot release)
parking sensors
Headlamp washers
Heated Jets
Rain Sensing wipers ( with a new screen !!!)
Auto dim interior mirror
Heated Seats
Message Centre
Hi Line Sat Nav
Harmon Kardon
Black Oak Dash (it's got a 75 dash currently, which does lift the interior - but it's not for me)
Gear Knob and Possibly steering wheel as the originals have almost no pattern left
Head Lamp Protectors
Twin Horns

Phew - I think that's it..........The only thing it won't have is Xenon and auto levelling lights, but it should be pretty much an SE model after all that.....

The first task complete

Well gear knob changed

Rear parking sensors done, took a couple of hours, mostly because the facelift holders are different to MKI ones. I will write it up when I get a chance

Well another day

I had every intention of doing the power wash today. Managed about 7/8 of it. Very nerve wrecking drilling the washer bottle, but I did and it's spot on. I got a BMW seal which is fractionally too long but does fit. Alas the pump I bought is for a later BMW, and the outlet is ever so slightly different, so I've ordered the early version.

Noticed that it had a single horn fitted, do add the second.

As previously mentioned, the Scottish roads have not been kind to the car, and I think that most of the country's salt stock is under the car, as every liner is cover in it.

All the mild steel fixings are rotten, so they've been binned, and I've ordered up some zinc plated hex headed self tappers instead. (couldn't get stainless)

Hopefully with a dab of grease they should be easier to get out in the future.

I know ken did have a minor off in the car, and that a number of repairs were carried out. The lower "bib" return needs a bit of work as it's got a number of slits around the under tray fixing holes. Hopefully a strip of aluminium and tiger seal will restore its strength and stop the splits.
David

It's a V8 thing....

Don't tell me that I've just bought a TF, not going to look as it will be an MG and I would want the Rover variant
Oops, back on thread

Well at least Ken had got shot of the awful Technical dash, but not wanting to go to the MKI Rhodium, I managed to get a Dark Oak dash. That with a nice new V8 badge really suits the car. I plan to change the centre panel of the door cards at some point, but I do like the "Black" look.

Well the correct pump turned up today and fitted perfectly.....a mere £10.75 inc p&p as opposed to a Xpart one at £70.00.........

Washer bottle back in and connected up, just need it enabled on a T4 session now.

Still waiting for some more fasteners to turn up so the bumper can go on.
