I have never heard of any PCB (joins) failure on this module, though there have been a few reported component failures. Unless you are certain you know what you are doing, the cheap and safer option is a replacement from a scrap car. They can be had for a tenner, whereas buying components can easily cost you much more than that. It also avoids the risk of doing even more damage.

To prove it is the module at fault, simply short together the two thick leads at the modules plug. If the fan then runs, the module has failed.

There was a recent thread where the owner had it diagnosed as the fan motor by a garage. After a bit of help from the forum, he seemed to confirm it as the motor, the garage swapped it and it worked, but I'm not entirely convinced.

Perhaps someone can say yes or no?
Any component could of course fail. Mine failed and I assumed as that was the most stressed part, that was the cause, but I later traced it to the bi-polar capacitor. Pennies versus pounds to replace.
