It may just be the switch which has not been properly inserted. Its a push fit into socket, just retained by friction. Press the pedal down, push the switch in fully, then release the pedal gently. Let the pedal jerk back, and it may push it too far back out - so gently does it..

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I imagine the switch fixing is similar to the cruise one, if so mine wasn't being held in place securely and moved everytime you took your foot off the clutch, 10mins and a dab of superglue cured it..

So far as I know, the 'cruise switch' is the brake light switch, so if the OP's brake lights are misbehaving, so will the cruise. The clutch has a similar switch on its pedal.
