Default Short horn beep.

I know this has been mentioned before but I can't remember it being satisfactorily answered.

On odd occasions the horn sounds a short beep as the ignition is turned off following a journey.None of the doors, windows, boot or bonnet are partially open.Anyone know what is the cause of this, and is it meant to be some kind of alert?

You might be inadvertently pressing one of the Buttons whilst switching off....

Agree, this is a habit that I have..

The short horn tone usually happens when you lock the car, if boot, bonnet or doors are slightly open.

Maybe so,it does seem to be random

I know others have experienced it.

I've had this exact same thing.
When I came to examining closely what was going on, I was indeed pressing a key button as I turned it in the ignition.

The thing I still don't understand though is why the horn sounds when none of the doors boot or bonnet is partially open.

Another vote here for pressing one of the buttons whilst turning the key

Basically it's just a 'Heads-Up' that you are doing something wrong, ie. pressing the button with the Key in Ignition.......... I've done it myself.

Locking the doors with the key sets the alarm, which you'll trigger if you're in the car.
The beep is just your car's way of telling you off
