Lower Engine Mount - Diesel Engine
I've been reading this thread for a couple of weeks to help decide whether my 'lower engine mount LEM' had gone again.
The symptom was a large engine shudder from launch in first gear. Changing up and down once moving was relatively straight forward so the clutch appeared good and was therefore only on the back-burner as the problem. I had changed the original LEM about 5K ago for the v6 mount. It was comments from Arctic regarding vibration / harmonics of the diesel engine that made be review that replaced bush. Removing the V6 LEM didn't give any clues as there was no visible deterioration, but it was bite the bullet time. The choice after reading through this thread was 1) Original Item - The most expensive, but simplest replacement 2) Jag / Ford unit - Additional manipulation required and all guarantees are void 3) Powerflex Yellow - Guaranteed to work - Reasonable price I took the Powerflex option. As mentioned by many it's a b****** to fit. The silicon supplied seemed to leave the bush as soon as, and go everywhere else during the fitting attempt (especially my hands and gloves). I tried washing up liquid, I tried hot water and even boiling water to try to soften the bush together with the wooden stick, I even tried brut force and ignorance - I ended up using a lithium based grease as a lubricant, the wooden stick and help from my better half to get the bush in position. Overall it took about 2 hours to sort out End result - Yes, there is a wee bit of vibration at tick over but nothing intrusive (and who cares about tick over), but it did cure the engine shudder so its money and effort well spent Thank you everyone who has contributed, especially Arctic who has persevered with this thread over a number of years. Its been very informative Royster |

Just looked at my Powerflex Slotted bush that has been on for many many miles will have to check approx 25k ??
But it still performed Ok even with this little split . Did change to a dual type from DMGRS just to try it , not cos of the split and had no noticable difference. . And now on a "Supposed" Proper Diesel mount , and maybe its a tiny bit better, but think the vibes lie somewhere else ?. wonder if the split is caused by the misaligment of the end fixings ?? C

For what it's worth, for the diesel lower engine mount, I used the correct genuine Corteco 49408609, available from eBay and PIM for a very respectful £31.
Limited stock available. |

I know we have spoke through PM about these mounts, have you fitted the mount and does it feel good also does it look good quality as Corteco are usually very good, is this the one you purchased and from the same seller. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Mo...cAAOSwO5lfXMmH There feed back leaves a lot to be desired, 108 negatives in a month

That is the item.
Not fitted yet, unfortunately. Looks good quality. Comes in a Corteco printed box. Seems genuine, no reason to suspect it isn't genuine. Corteco is a quality brand, doesn't look like a Chinese clone. And on 15% off atm. ~£27. Less than 1% negative feedback, not worrying. Limited stock. I have no reason not to recommend it. Last edited by MarkS; 13th March 2021 at 16:54.. |

Good evening,
after reading all the thread I'm still confused on what is (or should be) the best lower engine mount to purchase, just now, for diesel cars. Is the Rimmer's one exactly as the original one with the "T" stamped on it? Thank You

I have been very happy with my Powerflex non-slotted bush. It's been on my ZT190 for well over a year with no issues.
Now that my car has been totalled I'm hoping to swap the mount over to the replacement ZT. I'm just hoping that the metal mount isn't bent as my arms and hands hurt for days after installing the bushing. You would almost me best taking it to the local bodybuilding gyms and pay a Mister Universe hopeful a few quid to install it!

I think you will find any original diesel mount with a letter T is not available, but there are one with a yellow dot on which we are told by all the sellers that this is for the diesel engine. They say that the same mould as the 1.8 engine as been used to manufacture them, with the correct type of compound as the original letter T mount. Now we have to believe these sellers, as i have said before it is open to abuse, as the 1.8 mount is cheaper, therefore what is stopping the seller from putting a yellow dot on a 1.8 mount and charging for a diesel mount I have a powerflex slotted mount on my diesel tourer at the moment, but that is my choice. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerflex...AAAOSwxA9aBGiS For the petrol engine then this would be the powerflex bush. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183717637...cAAOSwYwJaA0fF The sellers claiming the mount is as of the original letter T mount, which is portrayed in there listing photo, i have contacted ECP below saying in my opinion the photo and its box should not be used, as it is not what you get, you will receive a mount with a yellow dot on it, but they will not remove the photo. and at £96.90 someone is making a great profit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171667165432 I would ask rimmers if you do indeed get the original mount with the letter T https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-KKH101402 https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...&postcount=189 Then you have the one fits all mount. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384173165...kAAOSwa3tfFszR
