Bolt remover sockets arrived and did the job nicely.

Thanks for help

opened up the fan and it only has 3 bushes I guess thats why it didn't work.
New bushes are also a lot longer than the ones left so fingers crossed I will have a working fan, my bonnet will pop open again and I have the O ring mod done.

Hi Graham.
Nice to hear the bolt removers worked I have yet to see them not remove a rounded of bolt, I also note they have shot up in price by about £5 these are the cheapest I found after a quick look.

Replaced all the brushes and fan still would'nt work, started to smoke and got quite hot.

Switched it off took it all apart again everything looked ok, put it back together and tried again, still not turning, gave it a little kick and it turned half a turn, kicked it again and it turned.

However looks like the bearings have gone as it is catching and has a stiff point. Have arranged to buy a two speed replacement off Tom Force so when that arrives all should be good.

HI Graham
Even though you are purchasing a two speed fan with a silver or gold resistor I presume, you should still open it and check the brushes as they too can wear down over time.

If you do not then you could well be taking it all apart again in a few months, that is unless it as already been checked or have you purchased it (Caveat emptor )if so then definitely check it, personally I would have checked the brushes & motor before selling it to anyone.

Do you have any photos of the motor that is sticking are the magnets ok or as one come loose?
