Angry Dead 190

Just left work, on way to the doctors for an appointment and my ZT-T died, as I came into Finchingfield the engine cut out, IPK displaying traction control warning, managed to roll out of the way of traffic before it ran out of momentum. Engine cranks fine, but won’t fire up. Called recovery and awaiting them turning up. Anyone have any ideas - I don’t understand how a traction control issue would affect running. Thanks in advance, Paul.

Mine did exactly this 2 yr ago, Bigruss got it on his T4. Turned out to be crank sensor. Traction control warning light was a strange symptom!!!

From earlier posts: check the rev needle for movement when cranking, no movement = dead sensor.

My v6 rev counter doesn't move whilst cranking, but the car starts. Should it be moving?!

Thanks for the replies, i thought it must have been an expensive electrical mishap at the time as i
couldn't see how the traction control would cause the engine to cut out and not restart. Can anyone recommend a quality sensor and where it buy it please.

Rimmer's have genuine and aftermarket here:https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...41#post2788241

But before spending money put a code reader on the car, if it's the sensor playing up it should flag up a fault code.

And try the business with the rev needle while cranking, does it move? I've read many owners including this one post 5 https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=263168 mention it. Would be good to know one way or the other if this simple self test works.

A perhaps more definite method of checking the crankshaft sensor is to place a voltmeter across the fuel pump terminals. If you see 0v when the starter motor is turning, suspect the crankshaft sensor.

Default Crank sensor.

Thanks for all the replies, at the time thought it must be expensive electrical failure as I couldn't see how the traction control warning would stop the engine running. Can anyone recommend where i can get a good quality replacement sensor?
