What a shocking video.

On the preamble, I suppose the articulate use of English, and his command of vocabulary, should have been a clue of what was in store for us.

What he has filmed is himself being shamed, as someone no knowing the law, or having any idea what an armed response might be up to. Then, he videos himself doing it.
Sadly, in his desperate attempt to discredit the Police and for his video to make money, by going viral, he overlooked doing his homework:-

Firstly, there is an exemption for seatbelt wearing in Police vehicles, as is true with other emergency vehicles. Exemptions also apply to everyone else under certain situations.

Secondly, we are all allowed to use a mobile under an emergency. 112 and 999 situations, even when driving. As the Police Officer politely pointed out, he didn’t know what the call was about.
I think most people with half a brain might linked the fact that armed response people could well be dealing with an err... armed response.

They were stationary anyway!

I think the Police officers acted professionally with dealing with this situation. Despite the fact they had a moron stood in the carriageway, with heavy traffic, they got him to a position of safety on the nearside of the vehicle, before departure.

Sadly, he was not done for obstruction because they had more important things to deal with.

I think he was wanting to quote something from section 40 or 41 of the road traffic act. I dont know which one it is (I think it is in the 40s), but then I am not pretending to know the law (in his case, it'll be 'cos he once had a f**kin' brief, he knows the f**kin' law), nor do I intentionally hinder or harass those 'with authority'. Whether he likes it or not, the policemen are 'with authority' and that will be an important fact in law that he will have to accept, when he gets around to reading the relevant legislation. If I recall the legislation he was dreaming of, makes provision for this term.

The Queen's Bullies?

Really Steve? while I'm no fan of the police in general, that's not a term I've ever heard.........perhaps it's a phrase coined by some scrote with an axe to grind........as to the video you linked to, the bloke filming isn't some sort of hero, rather a sad waste of space.

Thanks for that, two minutes well spent, before the will to live got the better of me

What a waste of time it was watching that video, the only thing I found slightly interesting in it was the fact that both the police and the guy with a axe to grind were using mobile phones on a petrol station forecourt

Oh well I could always do something more interesting with my time like make my wife a nice cup of tea

It's not illegal to use a cellphone on a petrol station forecourt, mainly because nothing will happen if you do.

Apart from the voice through the tannoy telling you to not do it, because they've been told to shout at you.

I didn’t suggest it was illegal,

UKPIA The UK Petroleum Industry Association claims that there are two reasons why the use of phones is frowned upon.

Firstly because mobile phones can create a serious distraction for people dispensing fuel or crossing the forecourt due to the number of vehicles moving.

It states: “Traffic movements will always present a risk for customers. However the distraction caused to pedestrians by mobile phones increases the risk of accidents.”
Secondly is due to a risk of ‘incendive sparking.’

“Mobile phones are not designed and certified for use in explosive atmospheres which exist temporarily around the pump and nozzle during refuelling as well as around the fill and vent pipes during petrol deliveries.

“Such use is expressly forbidden by law under the conditions of the petroleum licence and associated guidance.

“Whilst the risk of incendive sparking from mobile phones is low, they are not intrinsically safe devices and should not be used in those hazardous areas that exist on a forecourt.

A friend of mine onc put the wrong fuel in his vehicle, and tried to make a phone call on the forecourt, and he was swiftly escorted off the forecourt and onto the pavement alongside the forecourt by the Shell manager, he was told it is shell policy that people do not use mobile phones on the forecourt, I noticed this looks like it was in the Shell petrol station.

What people do in life is up to them, I am not the judge or jury of other peoples behaviour.
