Question Mr Kipling Test - where is the original post?

I'm looking for Brian's original post showing the Mr Kipling Test but this is the only one I can find with pics - post 5.

There must be an earlier one because I seem to remember hearing about it for the first time sometime around October - and it's mentioned in post 10906 here (21/9/19).

I have emailed Mat about the arms and we have come to an agreement that instead of having one of the Xpart arms with one of those ordered by DMGRS, I will wait for the others that he is waiting for due in May/June. Hope this will occur?

Not sure I would be that generous as I feel that Mat has had my money for the SAIC set for quite a while now and I still haven’t heard anything about a despatch date. I’ve also got some other parts eg. brake plates & shoes which I’ve asked to be sent at the same time to save a bit on overseas postage, so I’ve got a good few pennies tied up with this order.
Perhaps it’s time to send Mat another mail and ask what’s happening, especially as he (and Scott) have been very silent on here lately. If WillyHeckaslike had some which were due for delivery last week (and never arrived) - one cannot help but wonder what's going on?

Regards

I'm looking forward to seeing what the quality of the new XPart items are like, as they are from a completely different supplier than the earlier version.

If they are anything like as good as the quality has been reported, then there will be no need to worry about supply issues

Hello all,
Not sure how I've only just spotted this thread - but all is in hand.
Basically, we ordered a quantity of pairs - and were supplied all of the RH we requested but only a small amount of LH.

We have been given the option of:
- Some additional stock of LH arms arriving with us from the SAIC MG supplier in a month or two (date to be confirmed, as we're still working to ascertain exactly how many are available)
- Supplying the LH arm via XPart at no additional charge (but this is the Indian item)
- Refunding anyone who isn't happy with the above in full without any issue
We have had a few SAIC MG LH arms included with the order, and we've allocated these out to members already, where possible.

We've received some emails with what seems to be a certain amount of hysteria; we've been a member of these forums for many years, and the last thing we're out to do is swindle any members or supply parts anyone isn't happy with.
Truth be told, this Group Buy was arranged to cut the cost of these with only a couple of pints in each set for us - and it's all gone spectacularly wrong thanks to the lack of LH arms supplied with this batch.

Can any members with concerns or queries please get in touch via PM or email ([email protected]) with their order number or postcode - dealing with it via posts on a forum makes it very, very hard to link posters with orders.

Our apologies again to anyone who feels misled, however we'll make sure that each and every member has a resolution to this that they're 100% happy with.

Can I please stress again that we get no notifications of threads like this unless someone alerts us via PM with a link to it - this is the first time I've read these comments, and stumbled upon it by chance. We can't reply to something we don't know is happening, hence the silence in here thus far - but we do and have been replying to emails promptly.

I am not at all interested in what Xpart is or is not selling Brian. That outfit was not in the equation re this preorder and its reputation is in the gutter re these arms. It will have to take a massive hit on price if it expects any other than its most select (cough!) customers to be a guinea pig for any of its further offerings and that is pragmatism and not hysteria.

I think the mistake you made was to sell the arms you already had Steve to be fair........anyway what needs to be put into context here is a simple one.

When I raised concerns in May 2018 about the quality of the original batch of Indian arms with XPart QA engineering department, this was made in person at their HQ at Hinckley.

The original major faults in welding were addressed, and subsequent items were finished to a considerably better standard.

There were also concerns in regards to the paint finish of lack of on the inside of the component, this again was to be addressed and reported to have been actioned, but I cannot confirm this as I've not ordered any arms subsequently.

Many customers would not be as, shall we say.......discerning when choosing a component to replace a rusting part that can potentially cause a catastrophic failure, and regardless of the standard of construction or finish, the worst Indian arm will be much better than a rusted original.

Fast forward almost two years, the initial stocks from the Indian supplier have been reduced to almost nil, bearing in mind we were talking about stock in excess of six thousand units, not the handfuls coming in from dusty warehouses in China, and the stocks from an entirely new supplier are expected imminently, if not already here (it is a few weeks since I last enquired)

These arms are purported to be made using new tooling, and undergone dip coating, rather than the wet painting of the original batch of replacements.

Now back to the subject of this thread, it should be said that that DMGRS ought not to have mixed and matched their stock of Chinese SAIC arms, with those of Indian ones without consultation with their customers, without giving them the option of whether to continue with the order or indeed cancel their respective order..........I have absolutely no idea as I was not involved in any way in regard to the DMGRS pre order deal.

Although there would not have been any major safety concerns in doing so, it's not what was promised, a pair of matched Chinese arms.

You don't need to be a "guinea pig" far from it, I'm sure as soon as the new supplier arms are in stock at XPart HQ, I'll be invited to inspect them in person.......I've already spoken to their chosen ex MGR mechanic who has fitted the sample pair to one of his own cars and been very pleased with them as compared to the original offering.

So I suppose what it boils down to is this, how desperately are the parts required, how long are you prepared to wait, and indeed how long do you expect your car to last long term? these are all variables that need to be taken into account when selecting whatever part is to be fitted to your car.

Personally speaking, I fitted in November 2018 a set of heavily modified, and refinished arms from the original batch, and I certainly expect them to outlast the car, which after all is now fifteen years old.

As much as we complain about the quality of parts, whether justified or not, a pragmatic view must be taken..........

To clarify - we're more than happy for anyone involved to cancel; we won't be forcing any arms on people (as that's not how we work).
We've offered 3 options, aside from the few pairs of SAIC MG pairs we've received and allocated to customers we've spoken to:
- Have the XPart and SAIC arm as a package later this week / early next week when they arrive
- Wait for a pair of SAIC MG arms that we're due to receive in our next shipment
- Have a full refund

Most have opted to wait for the next shipment, of which I'll provide details ASAP.

Would it not be prudent to refund everyone in full until suitable stock arrives .That way the money is earning interest in their bank accounts .
