Default Air Con Condenser Replacement.

After having no air con, I had it checked over and was told that the condenser needed replacing and also that there was no gas in the system.
I have purchased a new condenser and also purchased a couple of the essential O rings from Jules.
My question is how difficult is it to replace and does it require any special tools? I am just trying to save some money so all I would have to fork out for would be the re-gassing.

Any advice and opinions would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve.
The job would involve bumper removal, fan removal, de-gas which you have stated that it is empty so you can class that as being done already, once you have access to the condenser you need to unbolt it from the top of the radiator and the hose joints and then remove the condenser by lifting it off it's locating pegs, I presume that the new condenser from Jules already as a new desiccant pack fitted, when refitting use new O-rings and smear then with a little refrigerant oil then tighten the flange bolts up to the specified torque, refit fan etc that was removed to do the job.

Steve this is something you can do at the nano if you wish and help will be on hand Arctic.

Put plenty of penetrating oil on the bolts that hold the pipes to the condenser, if they snap im you will need a new radiator too

Hmm, these seem like hens teeth to get hold off but I may have an idea. What if I bought a number of the small sachets and dropped them into the tube along side the condenser? I think it would do the job, any suggestions anyone?

Hi Steve.
Have you checked to see if one is already in situ, where did you purchase the condenser from ? maybe try them or ask why there is not one added already.

Try one of these below to see if they can supply one if like I say above one is not in situ.

As always Jules in best place for one of these, he seems to have the new integral dryer canister added. Also the price might be different for members ?
