So you could say that an English Electric Lightning has been re-born...just as stunning as the one with wings!!

0 - 60 in around 4 seconds is pretty impressive and it looks fantastic - be interesting to see how far you can go between charging - strangely they haven't released that data yet...

do modern (i.e. being planned now) electric cars re-charge themselves like the hybrid prius does using braking energy?

Some still have the idea although they don't always feed into a battery pack but instead into capacitors for when you need a burst of energy.

The one good thing about the race to provide electric power is that manufacturers are looking into a variety of technologies for storing and recharging - there's new fast charging systems now being trialled which takes one of the biggest criticisms away.

fast charging systems - yes, but they aint green!

they just rely on combustion made (and polluting) elsewhere...

Apparently a 10 minute charge(probably the 3 phase one) would give a 200 mile range! more info here....I do hope this company gets suceeds and is not trodden on by the "Big Guns".More info here:

Environmental considerations aside, driving a car like that without the roar/rumble of a V8 / V10 / V12 just wouldn't seem right would it?

Perhaps they could mount a piece of plastic card just touching the wheel spokes to provide “real engine noise feedback”. I had one on my bicycle a century or so ago. It was all the rage at the time IIRC
