Default Key Problem

Just got me a Conny SE.
I have two keys with it but have a problem.
One key will unlock and lock the car by the buttons and key blade and will start the engine.
The other key will unlock and lock the car by buttons and key blade but won't start the engine.
On the display it gives the engine demobolised symbol.

Is this the wrong key or is it something that can be fixed?

The key needs to have a matched coded chip transponder to work the ignition. Open up the key that doesn't work (instructions in owners handbook 'how to change the key battery'), it's a clamshell design and the chip, a small black coffin shaped block about 12mm long, is clipped into the half that doesn't hold the key blade. No chip present then that's the problem, if there is a chip it is either corrupted or coded for another vehicle (usually because your spare 'old' key blade has been fitted into the body of the key case from another car - common because the buttons wear out on what are 15+ year old keys). Have a search, there are respected members on here who will supply you a new correctly coded chip (good value but it's not just a few quid to do).
