OK, thank you Keith and Bob. In that case, what's the advantage of a Revotec over an MG Rover motor?

I've been very satisfied with my inexpensively repaired original MG Rover motor for fifteen years so the alleged advantages in that post don't really convince me. But I recognise that it's an attractive option to those who are not DIY enthusiasts. Simon

I too prefer to use the original when possible but one advantage I can appreciate is the extra long leads enabling the Gold resistor to be mounted just about anywhere. Had I thought a bit more in post one, what I should have done is solder the gold resistor with some extra wiring on the bench and then join it to the existing wiring, mounting it some place other than the conventional mounting, would have saved a lot of time and been easier. Oh well next time ….

Agree Simon, trouble is the conventional mounting doesn’t support the gold resistor. Next time I’ll see about either re-using the old bracket, re-working the gold resistor or relocating the resistor. I note from Jules’ pictures his gold resistor isn’t mounted in the fan produced airstream, and I’m not aware of any complaints.
