Default RCA adapter

Hi have fitted a roof mounted dvd player to my wife's Toyota Previa. I want the sound to come out through the rear speakers. We had this on the last to cars and it was great. I was going to fit rca line out adaptors to the rear speaker wires to do this but the dont seem to work. The speaker wires seem to be live on both wires. Any advise would be welcome. Thanks.

Line out from your unit won't drive speakers I'm afraid .
You need an amplifier to drive the speakers, so you would go from the line out of your source then into the amp which will then feed the speakers.
Aren't your speakers already connected to your head unit though?
If so you would have to disconnect them before doing this.
The alternative is to run the audio to the head unit presuming it has an aux input?
Then select aux and the amplifier in your head unit would then channel the sound to the speakers.
Hope that helps
