Excellent result so far, let's hope forensics prove they have the right vehicle/driver whether it has been repaired or not, and if so, he faces the proper consequences.
Driving off for any reason under those circumstances is just not on!

Who knows, wonder what the consequences are, he probably can't get done for drink driving, but maybe they will convict him of causing death by dangerous driving if there is a suspicion of drinking? He will probably claim confusion and be let off unless they find something damning ie he wasnt supposed to be driving etc... |

The girl's parents have spend the best part of a month appealing for this driver to come forward.
As her funeral is at 3pm today, I hope that the arrest will give them a some form of comfort, however small.

I am glad the suspect has been arrested. How tragic a young girl lost her life. Too young.
An old friend was involved in a similar accident at night along a country lane. He had a collision with a biker after the biker had come at him from the opposite direction. He got out of his car and walked over to have a look at him. Then he walked back to his car and drove off. Not long after he arrived at home, a police sergeant and a PC called to interview him, he was breathalysed. No alcohol detected. Fortunately, other drivers saw the accident and called the emergency services. The biker survived. My friend was not prosecuted even though he had left the scene of the accident almost immediately after. He was not able to give the reasons why he did this. All of that brought other factors to the fore. Dementia. I suspect that the reasons for this happening in cases of 'hit and run' like this are rare and that for most of the time the reasons why people do not stop are down to alcohol, driving whilst not insured, or driving whilst being banned, or drugs, or some people really do think they are above the law and think they can get away with it. |

I have heard on the radio that they have now added a 10th charge of perverting the course of justice.
Adds to the list of: death by careless driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving with no insurance, failure to stop after an accident etc. Unbelievable
