Default Will we see any of you at the NEC this weekend?

We'll be with the MG Car Club (featuring our Atmosphere MG ZS180) this weekend on their stand - I'll pop over to the Club stand too and say hello to everyone.

Who can I expect to bump into?
I'll be easy to spot in the usual DMGRS-branded clothing along with Scott (the owner of DMGRS).

Hi Matt.
I think in the present times a lot of people/member etc can find spending best part of £40.00 least £31.00 on something other than the show, i think those prices are without the parking for the day?

Usual entry price on the door is £40.50 per person on Friday, £36.00 on Saturday and £35.00 on Sunday,

Does the congestion charge count in that area?

I agree Steve. This time last year me and a "colleague" was going to th show. We bought tickets and he then was admitted to hospital with a heart problem. Since then he as had 2 stents and all is well.

But going back to costs. Fuel to get to show. Tickets.... Silly price for parking and then no doubt astronomical food costs inside. To be hearded around with a load of covid at our age... Is it really NECessary... or sensible.???

Id rather watch it on you tube latter if they av a Marina section.

I'll be there tomorrow, but only because I managed to get a couple of free tickets in a Lancaster promotion.

I really wanted to go today, as I thought it would be quieter, but had a hospital appointment, unfortunately.

I really wanted to go this year, but its £84.00 for the two of us to visit, we will probably only want to visit for 2-3 hours and its just not worth the cost when you factor in high food and travel costs on top.

As part of my job i organise shows for my company, so i am aware of what it costs to put on a stand at the NEC, and in my opinion you will not find a bigger bunch of rip-of merchants this side of las Vegas, so while I am sad for the show organisers, and all the small companies who have had to pay over the odds for a stand, visiting NEC these days is an endurance event of overpricing and low standards - it is a bit like visiting an airport, something you only do if you absolutly have to.

Loved the colour Atmosphere, first thought it was same as my Mirage, very similar but both great. Good to hear of it's history, lovely car good luck with it.

Sadly I have to agree with tonybel (post 5)

I also used to organise, and / or exhibit at IT industry shows, for 30 odd years.

Clearly the costs have not changed.

Olympia was the premier exhibition hall, with the NEC and later the SEC (Scottish Exhibition Centre) catching on to how to make exorbitant charges.

The visitors (at least the important ones) were largely given complimentary tickets, or they were company funded.

The exhibitors, in addition to the multitude of "normal" charges, had to have wads of cash to ensure that the hall electricians would connect your stand, before the opening hour. This after you have contributed to the door attendants "beer fund" in order to get your lorries into the queue for the unloading doors.

Fork lifts, sorry you can't use your own - I'll find Fred for you, but he does like a brandy bottle.

Having said all this, exhibitions have a certain excitement factor, and I still attend a few, now and again.

Sadly (again) not this one, maybe next year.

Although I live in Birmingham, and could go by train, some people do, I am afraid the cost has always outweighed the enjoyment I think I would have. The NEC has always been a rip-off for any show. I think this year it was £28 on Saturday if you used the 75ZT entrance code. My god, I don’t want to buy the place. It is about time these exorbitant prices were stamped on. There again, perhaps I am a moaning old pensioner. The only Motor Show I have been to was way back when three of us went to Earl’s Court in the 60s when I had the A90 Westminster. And what a dump that was, also a rip off for food.

I have always enjoyed this show, but the price of parking, and the queues for buses have now started to outweigh the enjoyment, which coupled with the poor choice of expensive food options has meant that I have not attended since 2018, and haven't really missed it. Perhaps familiarity has bred contempt!

I can't afford it, I've only been back at work since late September after six months away on the narrowboat and I'm always playing "catch-up" at this time of year. Have MOT coming up as well. To be honest though, even if I was in a stronger financial position I don't think I would get £36's worth of value from a visit.
