03' cdti pickup
Hi
I have an 03'75 cdti auto and it has developed a problem. It starts fine and runs smoothly but has a very slow pickup until the turbo kicks in - makes roundabouts dodgy. If you just accelerate slowly it will bring the turbo in and all is well but if you press down on the accelerator it just hold as though in limp mode and eventually the turbo kicks in. Also it will not go past 4000rpm in park. I have changed the MAF with a new one - any thoughts are welcome (mileage is 124k) Geraint |

Hmmm the only time mine did the exact same thing was when I had a bad maf. Have u tried unplugging the new maf incase its faulty or got a bit of dirt on it?

Sluggish
As above, this is the classic symptom of a failing Maf. Just unplug it. If it restores performance then you can run for as long as you like without it until you obtain a new one. Avoid the cheap ones on E bay

If the MAF readings are within spec, then I would suspect the EGR valve is remaining open for longer than it should. Hope this helps Brian |

Well I've obviously miss-read the title of this thread. A 75 pickup - I was hoping to see a couple of photos of a one-off Ute. Oh well.

Did this start after replacing the maf? Reason I ask, if it did, is there a possibility of some sort of blockage after the maf, the maf would should the amount of air entering the engine, and fuel accordingly, but if the air wasn't getting to the engine, it would overfuel, and run badly.
