Yours being a 2003 model there is every chance it wasn't originally fitted with a Symphony, may be a retrofit as 2002 onwards the Iovox appeared in the 75 and Kenwood in the ZT. I know with the Kenwood the steering wheel controls operated an infra red emitter above the head unit, Iovox "may" be the same which would mean the head unit isn't actually wired for remote. Best thing I'd suggest is pull the head unit and see if the remote wires are present as in the diagram or crane your neck and look under the eyebrow and see if there's an infra red emitter (or a hole for one) hiding there.

Only the Kenwood in the ZT has infra-red controls, all the 75s are hard wired.
