Default Reversing camera options

Can anyone advise whether it is possible to fit a reversing camera that would use the highline screen? Vehicle electrics, at least modern electrics is not my strong point so would have to be a simple option.
I have looked at buying a standalone wireless kit but don't want the monitor on display to temp the local yobbery, I already have to mount and demount the dashcam. One option I pondered was trying to mount one flat behind the sun visor if its my only option.

Background to this, my IPK sounder packed up for a second time a while back and whilst I have a replacement I have not fitted it, firstly my lack of soldering skills but mainly due to annoyance when reversing my caravan, a camera would also be useful when reversing to hitch up.

Any thoughts would be most welcome, thanks.

Hi Tony, there is someone who can help you with this, he is no longer on here, but can be contacted at www.75andzt.com His name is Sean, and he has a camera that will fit across the plastic lens of your number plate light. It comes on a clear Perspex mount,so the light still reflects through, and won’t affect the MOT requirement. These cameras can just plug in to your high line system, but you can also buy a mirror monitor, this just clips over your existing interior mirror,it is just a mirror , but slightly longer than the existing, and only becomes a monitor when you select reverse. I had one on my 75 saloon.

I have recently fitted one to my car.
I used this camera.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-Waterp...72.m2749.l2649

And to connect it to the Hiline I used this adaptor:

http://www.toysinyourcar.com/acatalog/rov_av_cam.html

Pretty much plug and play.
The trickiest bit is feeding the cable to the camera through the corrugated rubber tube from the bootlid to body. I used a cable tie inserted through and then drew the cable through with a bit of manipulation of the rubber to assist.

I removed the bolt plinth and mounted the camera just under the centre of it. It is very unobtrusive and as the camera is finished chrome it looks as if it has always been there. The view is pretty well spot on as well.

The highline system has a visual in on the tuner in the boot well. However you need to connect your camera to it and fit a relay to earth out to another pin on the tuner. This then enables the camera input automatically.
I don't have my wiring diagram with me at the moment and cannot remember for certain which pin needs to be earthed but pin 17 or 15 rings a bell

Looks good, wiring interface is OOS at mo but I'll keep watching. I know what you mean about feeding through cables I had a similar prob on my 800 hatchback. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that, I've never had the cover off the kit in the boot, I'll have to familiarise myself with what's in there.
Sounds as if what I want is possible which is encouraging.
Thanks

An alternative it to fit it in the rear bumper and feed the wires through the gromit for the tow bar wiring , did this on my tourer and it looks very neat

Hi Stocktake, wouldn‘t mind having a look at the wiring diagram for your reversing camera install,I’ve got the same kit and was about to fit it. If you don’t mind!

On the tuner in the boot, blue and white plugs.
white plug pins 13 and 14 are for the camera. to get this to work you also need to ground pin 17 on the white plug when you select reverse. This is quite simple using a relay activated when you select reverse..
Hope this helps
