Don't need to have a sunroof to get wet carpets (he says from experience), mine got wet from rainwater getting in through the scuttle clips. The carpet holds an incredible amount of water before it becomes obvious. You could lift the carpet under the B pillars and check the condition of the sensors and check as in Russ' post if the sensors are covered in white corrosion.
