Don't need to have a sunroof to get wet carpets (he says from experience), mine got wet from rainwater getting in through the scuttle clips. The carpet holds an incredible amount of water before it becomes obvious. You could lift the carpet under the B pillars and check the condition of the sensors and check as in Russ' post if the sensors are covered in white corrosion.

One like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Cable...sAAOSw0SJa9VrF with pins 7 and 8 bridged (joined together).

I actually use a serial Edibas cable (RS232) but my computer is old enough to have a serial port.

Or just use your eyes. Lift the carpet and see if there's any white oxide deposits around the sensors.
