I can, but I don't want to step on toes if other people are organising a group buy.

I'd already phoned them before finding this code and they didn't have a clue what a subframe is - no idea at all. I might as well have been speaking in Martian!

Look how complicated the web page tree is here (blah blah>blah blah>blah blah>blah blah>other>other>other>Support bracket etc......)

Nightmare of a website!

https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov...th=5&year=2019

If 8708999725 is the correct code, then UK duty is 3.5% and vat is 20% of A+B+C.

A - Cost of goods (purchase price)
B - UK Duty (3.5% of A)
C - Shipping costs

In case anyone is still awake by this stage (unlikely), here's another explanation.

Now all you have to do is learn how to type in Mandarin. And adjust your clock to BST+7 (or is it 8?).

PS. That 2nd pic above is not from the GOV.UK site - that's why it's in English!

I got two prices from two different Chinese suppliers - this is for rear subframe p/n KHB000130.

One quoted $109.20 for the part and (wait for it) $420 for shipping. That's not a typo - they want £323.40 just for shipping.

The other supplier quoted $200 for the part and $80 for shipping. Their own website shows the part at £156.46 so that's the figure I used for the overall cost calculation. I make it £268.24 after shipping, duty & vat (if $1.00 = £0.77 and 3.5% is the correct duty).

Does anyone know what the weight of a rear subframe is?

With those shipping costs I think you should have a chat with Matt (DMGRS). Maybe you can negotiate something with him to have some subframes included in a container he may have coming over. That should really minimize the shipping costs. There would likely have to be some sort of markup seeing as his is actually a business. I'm sure it could be worked out favourably for members.

Cheers,
Glenn

The way I looked at my overall $200 shipping cost was, the overall cost saving. Even if I was to have been hit with 100% extra for duty and vat, I would have still saved money.

Last time I saw a rear subframe on rimmers, price was around 5 or 600.

I would guess the rear subframe weight was something like 20-25 kilos.

I don't think $80 shipping is too unreasonable for something the size of a subframe but $420 definitely is. I could drive there and collect it for less than that (well, almost ).

Sounds about right to me - I was thinking 50lbs-ish earlier.

Hello all, sorry for the slow reply dealing with this - took a while longer than expected to get our stock of the subframes here with us.

You can order here:
https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/...shes-khb000130

Pricing is as good as we could get - £224.99 inc VAT for the subframe, but of course you can use discount code FORUM5 for 5% off this.

Shipping is £12.99, however if you add other bits and pieces to break the £300 mark it's free.

Hi Matt,
Do you have any plans for another batch?
