Speed Bumps, Lumps, Potholes and other road imperfections
Just out of curiosity , do you slow down when encountering the above road imperfections or take them full speed ahead?
I personally take them the slowest possible, especially if it is with my 75. How about you?

The track of the 75 is wide enough to straddle some of the speed humps round here so you can drive along the road without noticing them. However, I still slow down to the required speed because the humps are there for a reason.

slow for me as the ztt's suspension is a little unforgiving as its not as bad in for the 75 or other vehicle i have owned.

I take a different approach in the 3 wheeler, except where the bump is right across the road. With the individual ones for each lane, the car's track's narrow enough for the front wheels to only catch the edges, and the single rear wheel goes between them, so I can just about ignore them. Unless something's coming the other way..............

I used to drive an Escort. Every speed bump resulted in a loud scraping noise from underneath, as a result I always slow right down.
That being said there is of course a world of difference between the two cars but old habits die hard. |

We have the square speed bumps in our road (3 across the width of the road), which is annoying because they didnt attempt to level the road out first, there is one bump that if you do not get perfectly lined up, you smack your bumper across teh surface of the Speed Bump, because there is at least a 2 inch drop before the actual Hump - There is Black trail marks from other Cars all across it too, further proving my point !!
I have thought of complaining to the Highways Authority as it is disgraceful, the Bumps are too high as well, IMO, as I catch the Undertray over each and everyone, regardless of speed.

Not an easy one to answer. Big difference between potholes and speed bumps. Speed bumps, made by man have a fairly standard configuration.
Pot-holes, man-made or otherwise, do not have any conformity. What I thought was a shallow depression once swallowed the wheel. Luckily I was actually going very slowly, made a dent on the underside of the valance and wing. (Luckily not in the 75).

I think most of us have probably driven through what appeared to be a small puddle that turned out to be a pothole filled with water - my father-in-law once (deliberatly) drove through what appeared to be a pile of loose snow - it was actually a small pile of bricks covered in snow...

I am dreading the day I hear BOINGGGGGGGGG from beneath this super car, where I work, when on lates(7 day shifts) I have to drive up 6 floors and each floor has EIGHT speed bumps then its all the way down again, and they are full width not only that each floor has one way flaps that have ripped to shreds the tyres of Subaru WXRs and damaged the rims.So its touchy feely in a big way.

Well It's reduce speed a little for me.
I wish the tarmac they used making bumps could be put into pot holes! ATB Andy |
