Default Kickdown on v6 2lt

The kick down on my V6 2 ltr seems very slow to cut in. When it does it really works well, but it seems very slow for any thing to happen. I am pushing really hard on accelerator, and don't have thick carpet under pedal. Is there any adjustment that will help ? I have adjusted throttle cable on black clip at throttle end and tickover is about 900rpm, and normal acceleration is responsive. When I want to use kickdown to pull out to overtake, the cars behind me are usually quicker and I have to chicken out.

I have heard that the 2.0 has problems with kick down generally. Do a search.
It is a short stroke engine, so is more free revving and smooth, but lacks torque of the longer stroke 2.5
Use the manual override instead.

After I changed the ATF the kickdown was a lot quicker and gear changes smoother

Check slack in the throttle cable, too much slack and geabox will not kickdown.

Another possibility is that one (or both) of your VIS actuators are not working.
