Washed my car today for the first time. Then used Williams waterless wash with cabana wax and polished it within an inch of its life.
I usually go down the Cosovan route who do a good job but decided to do it myself. The down side is you find every tiny chip or scratch you didnt know existed. |

There are a few jobs to be done on the V6 now in its 21st year. Currently in the UK in storage, they are not big jobs and could be a cure for boredom. Although one opinion was to scrap the car.
The only issue I have with the V6 engine since it was changed last summer, is the coolant level. In February during my last visit to the UK, on checking the level, it was just below the fins. I had to buy a container of the red stuff ready mixed for top up. Oil level was not losing A/C cool as a cucumber. Power steering fluid seeping, looked over full. The door windows struggle to go up and down or get stuck. The rear left passenger door is jammed. The left front and left rear carpets are soaking wet. The boot carpet I dried out and I have left it out until the drains are done. The vacuum brake pipe has to be replaced blah blah Check wheel balance and alignment. Not quite enough to scrap the car, but what do I know Apart from that, everything is good, a beautiful and pleasing drive That’s all about the V6 Last edited by Gate Keeper; 8th April 2020 at 06:55.. |

Well yesterday I got everything ready to have a go at dropping the subframe to fit the spring. Alas, I have to admit that my old bones kneeling and laying on my back beat me. This is the very first time that I have not been able to do a repair/replacement of anything on any car I have ever owned. I still think I am 28 instead of 80. My wife thinks I am stupid for my age. Gave her a good slap and she apologised. My friend uses a mechanic who does not mind working outside on his Jaguar, so am going to give him a ring to see if he can do it while the weather is like it is, sunny and very warm.

I am learning when to pick up the phone.
I have done all my own work on my MGs for decades. Last fall I had just finished boosting the gearbox back into my MGF and found it was time to do the clutch on the ZT. I was capable of doing the job but was just too darn weary of doing heavy work so I booked it into the local transmission shop. They did a good job and charged me a reasonable amount and I am glad that I got them to do it. Particularly as the gearbox had to come back out of the MGF to replace a damaged selector fork. You do have to pick your battles!
