I think the rings were the only good parts on the engine Hopefully all the bottom end parts will be here Wednesday so can get that side of the engine finished

After waiting almost 4 weeks for parts i decided to go to my local LR dealer to get the missing parts from my order so could finally get on ....

First off head flatness checked, all ok....

Next to open and clean the lifters....

Then to rebuild the head, i had to replace 4 exhaust valves due to excessive pitting on the seats....

All build up and end float checked....

Now onto bottom end, first to check piston to bore clearance....

All good there so onto ring gaps in bore and piston grooves....

Now onto fitting the crank etc with all the correct size coloured bearings for main and big ends....

Well at last she’s finally done was wondering if I’d ever see the day Pleased to say shes running lovely, dead quiet, no leaks, boosts and revs upto limit which it didn’t do before. Just need to do few hundred miles now before draining out the running in oil

Little update on the ZT-T, coming up to the 500 mile mark so getting ready for the running in oil to be dropped and replaced with some fully synthetic 5w40. Only had 1 problem so far that being a slight mis-fire round 6000 rpm turned out to be another faulty Denso plug (had the same problem with a previous set on my ZS after few hundred miles) so i replaced with a set of NGK Iridiun's which sorted that. Also got round to a few other jobs in that time...

I removed all the seats so could fully clean the whole interior as it was in a bad state and removed the useless old Android unit....

I done a full four wheel alignment as steering wheel was out and had a pull to the nearside....

Was happy with my results all tho i couldnt get the rear toe as good as i hoped but still all in spec....

And finally i replaced the Cream PRT with a genuine LandRover Grey unit so have a nice slow warm up ....

Even took her down to the local BMW meet as you know its basically one all tho my BMW mates wouldnt have it

I must admit tho coming from the other Z car range im not really clicking with the ZT, its a great car to drive but it feels so big and lazy like a boat really and i hate the huge steering wheel

I can't believe (as another Ignition Blue ZTT owner) that after all that work and expense you are now having second thoughts. Give it some time and the big, lazy boat with the huge wheel will grow on you

I’ve heard other people say similar things regarding the size of the car and being barge like. Also the steering wheel seems to be a common complaint.

I’ve only had mine about 3 weeks and really like the planted feel of the ZT-T. It’s actually really chuckable for what it is. It’s so grippy.

The wheel size just takes a bit of acclimatising I think. Driving my ZR for the first time in a week the wheel felt tiny as a back to back comparison.

I think for a big old estate the ZT-T is pretty hard to fault for how it behaves on the road.

It is a huge leap forward in quality etc over the other cars no doubt it's probably due to the fact I like to zip around etc more than the car and the poor old ZT doesn't respond to well to that

I must confess it wasn't the aim to keep the car for a extended period of time that's why I was so keen to find a low mileage example so if I decided to sell in future I could recoup the spending. That said tho I won't be selling any time soon

Running in? 6,000 revs? What’s that all about then? Thought you had to keep the revs down a tad while running in? Sorry for question marks ,but don’t understand the logic of ‘running in’ that way.
