Default ABS light on, no speedo or milometer

Symptom ABS light on, no speedo or milometer not incrementing 53 plate 75 CDT
I am told this is likely drivers side front fault, bought a sensor, plugged it in without mounting sensor, still have ABS light on when starting engine, as it is a 2000 car the fault scanner that I bought doesn't work
any advice please?

Make sure the sensor is fully 'home', pull it off and re-connect. If no different you may have a break in the lead feeding the sensor. Cheap fixes first as they say.

That's odd. It may be worth making a 'test loom' from an old ABS plug and socket from a scrapyard, that way you can connect the passenger side sensor to the driver's side input, and see if the speedo returns.

Hi

ABS Sensor problem is something I have first hand experience of.

When you replaced the sensor the only way to test it is to fully re-install and take it down the road. In my case the ABS light did not go out until then.

If you still have problems it maybe that it is not sitting far enough in so make sure the hole a surrounds are clean. Also a bit of grease on the sensor body to help it slip in.

If still issues try reducing the underside of thecollare in the screwhole with a light touch with a file.

Hope this helps
