Default Front Discs & Pads - Dealer Price

Hi all,

Quick question to see member's opinion please?

My car is in for a service at the moment. I've just had the dreader call to advise what work is required over and above the service.

2004 "53" 2.0 CDTi on 83k. They are checking a suspension "fault" on the o/s front wheel hub (excessive movement) at the moment and will report back, although that should be covered under warranty. At the same time they have said I need new front discs and pads and quoted £151 to supply and fit?

I have checked with Kwik Fit who would want £239. Is £151 not too bad a price?

Thanks for help (in advance).

Derek

new discs and pads for £151 from a dealer - check they are OEM and then bite their hands off

Hi Mike,

I think I will double check I heard the price right. It is a branch of Arnold Clark that was a Rover dealer (so they have a T4) so I expect it will be OEM parts.

Thanks,

Derek

Correct price was £151.80 (incl VAT) so I have just said go-ahead.

They are pattern parts but I felt not too bad a price and convenient since the car is in anyway.

Thanks,

Derek

the oem discs and pads would be around £130.00...god knows how much labour would be at arnold clark.

ask for a guarantee with the pattern parts.

They are £58 per hour for labour.

I'll check the parts guarantee.

Derek, I am 20 miles south of Glasgow and may need new pads & discs soon.
That price sounds great, can you tell me which branch of Arnold clark is doing the job. I recently had a major accident repair carried out at their accident repair dept in Wishaw and got excellent service. firefrost.

Hi there Firefrost,

I bought my car from the East Kilbride Motorstore ( http://www.arnoldclark.com/find-a-de...ore/ref/arnas/ ).

The service department is just beside it and was the former Parks Rover dealership so has a T4. They have been pretty good. I did not get the car back today as they found it needs a complete new front hub assembly and have ordered the part for me. Thankfully covered under the warranty I got with the car. Hopefully getting the car back tomorrow if the parts are available from stock.
