Default Best And Worst Car In The Snow

What are the best and worst you've had for driving in the snow?

My ZT is staying firmly put in the drive, not a great snow car. Other bad ones were my BMW 1-series and, suprisingly, my 2007 Honda CR-V. Although that was an atrocious excuse for a car altogether.

My best was a '87 VW Polo Coupe S. I remember going straight past about 6 stuck cars on a hill in Yorkshire with them all looking on in astonishment!

Best close call between a mini not a bmw one and a Ford Escort TD.
Both front wheel drive with skinny tyres and steel wheels.

Worst Ford Escort Estate with low profile alloys wheels and rear wheel drive and drum brakes but the ZT is not good either.

The worst so far was a 520 Bmw , but it was also the most fun if you didnt have to go anywhere and had a empty car park to play in . I used to put around 200kg of gravel in the boot to give some sort of traction

The wifes Yaris isnt too bad as it weighs nothing and its fwd with lots of ballast at the front (me).

I seem to recall my 95' punto 55 being pretty hand in the snow!

The best: My 75 going to work on Friday morning. The 'Snow' button worked to get me out of my street with no problems and I was cumfy and snug.

The worst: The big BMW just in front of me in the outside lane on a bit of dual carriageway on the same day - tried to pull away in a bit of slush and smacked his rear offside wheel into the central reservation.

Out of our current pair:-

Best - the 75. Just took the dogs for a walk and to get there had to go along an icy, snowy lane, with a small "hill" at the end (only small, this is Lincolnshire). Lane no problem, "hill" no problem, straight up

Worst - Gill's MX5. Had a twenty minute fight to even get it off the drive yesterday. I suppose rear wheel drive with no weight over the wheels and it's no surprise!

Most fun - sorry, but for the snow, it's the Mazda!

Most reassuring - the 75 (see, I added a category!)

I don't like driving my ZT in this weather, probably more to do with the tyres thats fitted though. They'e rubbish on snow.

My old Cortina seemed quite sure footed though.
