I cant connect the plate to the car , maybe the fact that I have had my mind scrambled as I have just had a wrestling match with a washing machine and tumble dryer...Instructions from SWMBO as she left for work earlier .
Cheers Tony

Am I right in thinking that say if you have an 04 plate on your car you are unable to buy a plate that has 54 and so on ?.

As stated you cannot ever fit a Plate newer (year wise) than the Car original registration.
