Political correctness gone mad
Little bit of a rant here (again) but I'd be happy to hear a realistic explanation.
I applied for a job recently within the MoD civil service. Not just a job... THE job, the one I've wanted for years and waited patiently for, honing my CV, qualifications and experience - you get the picture. There were three posts. Closing date for applications was yesterday. I found out today that I was the only applicant considered to have the right qualifications and experience for the job. So far, so good. However, as I was the only candidate who reached the required standard for interview, they cancelled the job application because with only one person suitable for invitation to interview, the process wasn't considered "fair and open" on those who had either not applied or reached the standard How does that work then? Sorry to hear this, Paul. That's just plain stupid. [And this is a far too much politely phrase.]

thats appaling Paul and worthy of appeal/challenge imo, as you know i work in the non MOD civil service and by our guidelines you would have been appointed even if the only one providing you had the necessary qualifications and were a suitable candidate.

Calling it political correctness is PC in itself. I would call it sheer crass stupidity.
