Windows 7 anybody using it on here?
As Per title, lot of my freinds say it is very good and a lot faster than my trusty XP. It uses IE8 as standard. Anybody know of any issues?

IE8 itself is a problem for various sites and things.
Stable as a Rock, what Vista should have been, and at last something for XP users to think about where previous OS have been rubbish. Avoid bottom two editions of Windows 7. A few older Programs may need updating etc. Prefers 2GB memory but will run with 1GB. Drivers for some older Graphics Cards are non starters to. I feel safe at last in recommending a MS Operating System. As always some people will wait for first batch of updates and other Glitches to be corrected. |

Ah, thanks for asking that question Dave and thanks John for your answer.
I bought a new laptop a few months ago with the free Windows 7 upgrade option and am due to receive my copy sometime in the next few weeks. I had been debating whether to install it at all as Vista has been okay so far. Looks like it will be worth doing then? Derek

Windows 7 has been on my main PC since Monday and against all odds I have to say it is impressive
Dammit, it DOES seem faster than Vista |

Hi Dave, I have been testing Windows 7 for the past 6 months and can highly recommend it. As John quite rightly stated avoid the basic version unless you only use your pc for basic utilities.
I am currently running the ultimate edition on my Macbook and have no problems with it at all. It is very good at running older XP programs as it runs XP on a virtual machine. The only minor drawback is the size of its footprint which is currently 14.5GB so if you only have a small hard drive then I would recommend fitting a second drive for the data. I recently held a Windows 7 launch party and everyone who attended was very impressed and 70% of them have already ordered a copy (guess muggings here will end up installing it for most of them ). If you want to see Windows 7 up and running you are always welcome to pop over and I can let you have a play on one of the machines and show you some of the features that it has. Cheers Lee.

Several sites won't even run in Compatibility mode and require IE7.
The EPC for one, the BMW equivalent also. Generally anything that uses Isoview 4 or lower, to expensive for Companies to update licences and versions. Must be a British thing. |

I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate for a week or so as an upgrade from Vista. The upgrade was near perfect. The only thing that didn't work was Remote Desktop Connection, but I found that it won't resolve computer names so the IP address must be entered instead. Normally I have waited for SP1 with anything from Microsoft, but I was brave this time and it was justified.
