Anyone with a professional interest in aviation?
The Haddon-Cave report on the Nimrod crash in Kandahar is released today.
Makes pretty damning reading The full report is available on the link above. Saves buying it for £63. Only 600 pages, worth a read in my view if you're an aviation professional (or just interested). |

You really need to read the report for the various levels of Incompetence right across the Field.

I had just read through the report,if this were Civil Aviation..............You do the job as per the AMM to Civil Airworthyness Requirments.I just cannot believe that level of incompetence.Safety comes before EVERTHING.Sorry if I sound dictorial but this sort of news really goes to the bone.P.

Having to do more and more with less and less and having to accept that a less than perfect job is "good enough" Mammon is most certainly the god in the MoD. It isn't just at RAF Kinloss either. Twenty years ago, if I decided a trainee was not safe or suitable for aircraft work, he'd be chopped, simple, no arguments. These days, if a student is considered a danger by a lecturer or a trainer, he is shunted sideways as many times as it takes until, by the law of averages, he manages to scrape through a safety board and is then considered safe and competent. Why? Because MoD have invested in his training and they can't afford to lose that investment. I'd like to see the Haddon-Cove recommendations implemented in full but I'm willing to wager a large sum that it'll all be allowed to go quiet. No more in-flight refuelling? Watch this space. It is as simple as it is frightening. The RAF does not have the budget to do things as they should be done and the MoD is so close, to all intents and purposes, to bankruptcy that the situation will never improve. Further, the culture of indiscipline is now so ingrained within the service that there is no way back as far as I can see. I just hope some of the bereaved have the fortitude to go to Court. The MoD is good at Court cases as a few of my colleagues have discovered. Their "do nothing until we're forced to" ethos works very well. The attrition of the individual is assured and eventually that individual is unable to continue the unequal struggle. |

The responsible people for this Malpractice should have to pay.
Also Maintenance should be brought under same Laws and controls we operate under. Sorry by Ainsworth is worthless, People died for what? Oh Yes to save this Government money.......... |
