Passenger door help (please)
At the risk of sounding like an echo, echo, echo......
My front passenger door has decided not to let people out! Opens from the outside (so if it's some kind of security phobia thing then it's very badly flawed). Good if I have got a very attractive young lady in the car, bad if I'm taking the mother in law shopping. How do I fix it? I posted this on the tech forum but only had one answer so I thought I would try here in case it's just not technical enough......... URGENT UP DATE....... I can't take another viewing of the dragon in laws immense back side wriggling out of the passenger door's window!!!! She could just undo the door with the outside handle but she does like to make me suffer.....................

Hi - I had problems with the front passengers door also. Would lock with the remote but would not unlock from either the remote or the central locking switch. I had to replace the locking mechanism in the door. All fixed now. Not sure how much they cost, had mine fixed under warranty.
I hope that helps |

Have you removed the door card to see what's causing it.
Is the handle still attached? Without some information or a picture it's very difficult to tell you what's wrong but as it's an internal only think perhaps it's just a simple matter of re-attaching the cable to the inner door handle.

Thanks folks, images of mum in laws rear are fading fast.
It unlocks and can be opened from the outside, but if the inside handle is pulled nothing happens. Sounds like it's a door card off job then, bit of a fiddle but compared to the alternative then it's well worth the effort. Thanks, John.

You should be able to tell if the inner handle is connected just by removing the screw on it and trying to pull the handle off. It should disconnect but still be held by the cable.

Don't leave it too long to remove the doro card and sort. In some previuos cases the door has then faield to open from the outside and then it can get really nasty!

OK John, I'll stick my head in the noose and ask the obvious question, you haven't inadvertently put the child lock on, have you?
(I'm assuming it has child locks, I have to admit I've not looked, but I did this on a previous car.................) Malcolm

Tell me about it. I had my rear drivers side door fail and the child locks were on. I had to remove the rear seat and bend the door card to sort it. Not nice.
