Smile Inerior lights.

Hi I am fitting Simon's walnut kit and am having trouble removing the front interior light panel, I know there are five spring clips holding it but don't want to break anything, can anyone help please?. John.

Since I bought my 75 SE CDT the interior lights have not worked. At first i thought it was because I didn't understand how you switched them on! I had read you have to hold one button down. Tried that but it doesn't work. I presume a bulb is out but all three are not working so before I start prising lenses off is there any advice?

Hold the centre button in for iirc 10 seconds and see what happens. The lamps should flash and then work

I suspect a fuse has blown

1/ Remove the front courtesy light bulbs and test them, replace any faulty bulbs, ignore the others for now. If you still have no courtesy lights

2/ Remove the panel below the glovebox, locate and test/replace the courtesy l;ight fuse, the fuse layout is printed on the inside of the panel. If you still have no courtesy lights

3/ Put an ohmmeter across the earth connector at the interior light to check the light is earthed, if no earthn you need to find the central earth point for the courtesy lights.

4/ Go straight to the source. You should take a look at pin 12 on the 20 pin C0661 connector at the BCU. This is the 12v output to the interior lighting system. Remove the glovebox and lower the BCU located at the top of the void space. Without unpluging the connectors use a test meter on the back of connector C0661 pin 12. I use a darning needle attached to the probe to get inside the connector, it should read 12v.

MO is that you more than likely will not have power there, I cannot imagine the pulse signal to the BCU has failed from every door.

If you do have 12v at this pin you need to trace the wire until you come to a break
