CDX/Copperleaf is the colour of R40 and was available from launch in 1998. Firefrost was a later MGR introduced red first seen some time before Xirallic came about - the two have no connection. hth

Mike do you have the codes for firefrost and Xcrillic paints?. The reason I ask is that SMG rover sold a Firefrost 08 plater to Andy Messer and was adveristed xcrillic paintwork?.
firefrost> CEV I have just checked with EMS and they have confirmed Xcrillic and firefrost are the same colours mate? Copperleaf> CDX Razen> CDX but shares no paint colour with Firefrost, Xcrillic or copperleaf, hence the RARE colour Please ring this paint office and confirm it yourself mate 01634 388999 xcrillic and firefrost are the same names. for the same paints.Unless these don't know either mate. |

Martin,
Firefrost Red was introduced by MG Rover. The last 75 built was Firefrost and looks like this: The 5 millionth Rover was in Xirallic Aubergine - MG Rover built the car and they said in their press announcement: Thursday, July 10, 2003 – build of the five-millionth Rover, a 75 Saloon, in special Xirallic® Aubergine paintwork (VIN SARRJZLLM4D298618), was celebrated with a visit by The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. Firefrost and Xirallic are different colours as the pctiures show. I'm sure EMS and Wilcox mean well but I have to believe what the manufacturer stated at the time. Razen Brown was never an MGR Colour, as I'm sure EMS will confirm. cheers Mike

Strange one this....I have spoken to SMG Rover, AE Wilcox, EMS, and now Lichfield rover all these dealerships are saying the same Firefrost/Xrcillic are the same paints?.
I have always known them as this also? If this is the case, Surely for just two cars on this Razen brown colour would not be in the colour brochure as it was intended for specials only? Also if CDX is copperleaf which is the door code number on the 5th million Rover, why is it not copperleaf then>? It is clearly matching the Rover 45 car?. I wonder does anyone have any proof if Razen brown,Xcrillic colours ever offered to the Rover 45? This is a great story mike. Do you have any more answers mate. |

Xirallic® looks to me like it might just refer to the type of paint finish, rather than the colour itself. Firefrost is particularly sparkly I believe and they probably wanted this one to sparkle too. As to the paint code on the car, they probably didn't think to give it one so just stuck CDX on as being about the nearest colour.

So it's possible that firefrost is a xirallic paint in the same way that anthracite is a metallic paint (I don't know, I've never seen firefrost up close). But xirallic cannot be the same as firefrost any more than a metallic finish can be the same as BRG.
