Default Razen Brown- The Rarest Monogram Colour of all!!!!

This new thread is on behalf on martin green.

In 2003 the 5 Millionth Rover was built. It was a Rover 75 and it has a unique Monogram Paint job. Its paint code is CDX (which is Copperleaf) however good old Copperleaf Red was mixed with Aumbrigine to create Razen Brown.

The 5 Millionth Rover (which I have seen first hand) still resides in a Special Museum in Longbridge. The paint work on it is trually stunning.

The story goes that John Towers wanted to know what the paint would look like on a car with lots of chrome. Before he gave the go ahead for it to be used on the 5 millionth Rover.

The car the Longbridge team used to trial the paint was a Rover 45 Impression S. The car was then seen and evalutated personally by John Towers before he gave the go ahead for it to be used on the 5 Millionth Rover.

They were intending to launch this paint as part of a revised Monogram line up in late 2005 but sadly no more were ever built in this colour.

The 45 in Razen Brown is now For Sale at A. E. Wilcox.

And there we have it.- the rarest Monogram Colour in the World with only 2 cars built in this colour. I give you Razen Brown

I too have seen this rare 75 but it looked a shade of red to me.

I thought it was Monogram Bacchus.

Its not Bacchus Dave. When I visited Longbridge in August I got to have a good look around it. The paint code is CDX (Copper Leaf) and its mixed with Aumbergine to create a unique colour. Which it the same as the 45 I mentioned. That colour is Razen Brown even though it doesn't really look like Brown.

The 5 millionth Rover was a specially painted and finished 75. The paint scheme, as described in the MGR press release at the time is:

The five-millionth, a Rover 75 2.5 Litre V6 Saloon, is painted in a new special Xirallic Aubergine paint finish. It is upholstered with Oyster leather, and Aubergine Trim with a Connoisseur SE specification,

The car came of the Longbridge line on Thursday, July 10, 2003

I saw the car at the Blenheim RSR event on July 27 2003. will dig out my pics and post them, or they can be found in the pics library on mg-rover.org

hth
