If of an ethnic background, homosexual or pregnant, yes but you will find somebody who is white hetrosexual is the least protected person.
Having sat on both sides of the job interview process just because someone applies and is the only person suitably qualified doesn't mean you have to offer them the job.

I suppose that could depend on several things - like how urgently the vacancy needs filling, and, as the owner of a small(ish) business, who's paying for the recruitment process.

Often the realities of life are more relevant than the niceties, I feel.

Not in Paul's case but the poor standard of education and training in the UK is sounding the death bell for many UK applicants in this Industry.
Incidentally both the head of Tesco and today Marks and Spencer have moaned of the appalling eduction of applicants leaving school.

Sounds like they want four people to apply for the three posts so that they can at least let one person down!

Hope all goes well for you Paul. Good Luck.

Why, thank you kind sir

You raise a serious point though. When I was teaching inertial navigation principles in the early 80s, I needed every minute of a three week period allocated. Now, the same "technicians", supposedly trained to the same standards, have a single day for IN. That's just an example of the RAF's "dumbing down" process. My colleagues who train aircrew are in agreement as well, lord help us.

Default Only in the MoD

The Mod decided on Monday that there will now be a moratorium on external recruitment.

Only the MoD could dream up something so perverse with such unfortunate timing.

However, it is now a case of the great "As you were".

I have been notifed by the job budget holder, in fact he came to my office, to tell me that I would be offered an interview in mid December, being the only candidate to be interviewed

However, if I FAIL to get the job, I can't possibly say the other candidates were of higher calibre

You couldn't make this nonsense up, but I'm sure that other MoD staff on the forum will back me up

Well I kind of empathise, in that I've had an interview today, effectively for my own job. Have to wait a week to find out if I 'passed'.
