Any VIN numbers to know the latest at Cowley and earliest in Longbridge?

Didn't the first Longbridge built cars start with D2xxxxx serial numbers, starting D200001? The Cowley cars were all in the M1xxxxx series, starting with M100001 (at Gaydon).

It doesn't work like that. There were in total 238,324 R75/MGZT models built between 1999 - 2005, but the last vin number is 355194.

If you have S plater, they do not follow the chassis numbers of regular Rover 75's. Regular Rover 75 cars have 1000001 and continued upwards 1000002 etc etc .

S reg pre-launch cars have the following and only 200 were built,,,,,

00001 and carry on 00002 etc etc etc.

So these are not the same as the counted rover 75's 1000001 to 355194. these are on top of that.

MG.

Although I don't know if these bodyshells had Cowley vin. no's or Longbridge vin.no's. Also, what the sill finish would have been.

These shells were given Longbridge vin numbers at build time. R40 was one of them

Agreed but I believe that all Longbridge built cars were in the series starting 200001 and upwards.

Good man. Looks like you have cracked it.

Here is a much harder one to crack - There were just 27,149 MG ZT models built between 2001 - 2005. There are some very low commision numbers around, so I'm guessing they started 00001, however the very last facelift cars go to 31*** Any idea where the extra 4000++ commision numbers come from??
