Hijacking that very nice Green ZT would not be "cool" but not to worry about Pete when he is loaded with biscuits you may get away with anything.

oh yes, he is very good at sorting 'all issues', though tbh I hadn't thought of him as a 'chap' myself............more of a Midlands cruiser type if you know what I mean

Whatever, he is the top man

i'm not sure its a problem as such. but here goes....

earlier this year my head gasket failed. usual story. it was replaced, but without putting in a thermo. (i don't know). what happened was the coolant was being thrown out of the header tank when the car warmed up. it was bled several times and the same thing kept on happening. the 'liners' were checked etc. the bottom end was found to be A1.

anyway, the thermo was never put back in. the car has run absolutly fine for months with the gauge going up and down like a demented loon. as expected. whilst on the open road, 7 o'clock. sitting in traffic 9 o'clock.

yesterday, the gauge shot straight to 9pm within 5 mins of driving. it stayed there all day. once it had cooled down, i opened the rad cap. no coolant loss. this has not happened in nearly 4 months of driving. why now? always had heating. i have topped up about 500ml in 4 months.

i seem to watch the temp gauge these days instead of whats in front of me when i'm driving. i don't want to get paranoid, as i've spent a fortune on a car i love and if i have to spend another load of money, i'll be bankcrupt! LOL!
