Fog light operation. Is it right?
In my ZX I often travell with the rear fogs on when the roads are wet, that allows people behind me to see me easier though the spray my wheels throw up, I only use the front fogs if it is foggy..
But, on My Rover, I can't have the rear fogs on, unless the front fogs are turned on? Is this normal? It seems illogical to me? . |

No, that is not normal. Rear fogs can be switched independently of the front fogs.

For the record, front or rear fogs should only be used when visibilty is a 100m or less. That includes, fog, snow, rain or even smoke.
Dense - is when visibilty is 50m or less......

My rear foglights only work if the front ones are switched on, turn off the fronts and the rear automatically go off as well..
Any one know why this happens? or what I can do to cure the problem please? . |

I don't think this is a problem, every car I have owned with fog lights fitted would only operate the rear fog lights when you had your headlights on.

Haven't checked the 75, but normal operation is:
front fogs will operate so long as sidelights are on, don't care whether headlights are on. Rear fogs will operate if headlights are on, if front fogs are on, or both. So yes I can see that rear fogs might only come on once fronts were on, but only if the headlights weren't on already. |

I'm getting confused by this!
For rear fogs then, is the manual saying they'll be on if the headlights are on OR sidelights/front fogs, or headlights are on AND sidelights/front fogs? I'd hope the former, as I'd like to be able to use rears without the fronts!

Hmm......on my 2001 car the front and rear fogs can be switched separately. The headlamps need to be on for either to work but they are not dependent at all.
