Default Brake duty solenoid 2/4

The brake duty solenoid 2/4 arrived safely today, it is now in a draw above my PC ready if and when I need it hopefully not to soon.

I was really surprised as to how small the solenoid actually is for some reason I was expecting something quite large from the photo's I had seen when searching.

Does anybody know if Jatco transmissions are actually made by Mitsubishi? Or is Mitsubishi merely an outside parts supplier to Jatco? Maybe there could be a wider supply of parts available.

I also bought the cover gasket from JP Auto Transmission (see Simon's link) as they had them, rather than use liquid gasket method mentioned in a How To on here somewhere.
I think my car will have more Xmas Pressies to open than me!

She's already had nice new Auto Fluid for her 17th birthday this year!

Happy Xmas, all

Hi John.
Was the gasket you purchased the same as this one below on ebay please ?

Difficult one, JATCO is majority owned by Nissan but Mitsubishi and Suzuki also have small (15/10%) shares.

Makes sense. I think Nissan also owns Mitsubishi, too, now.

Hi Steve,

The eBay gasket certainly looks the same shape. The only difference (I think) I can see is that it looks like a cork gasket whereas the one I have from JP Autos is a denser card like material.

Whether one is better than I other I couldn't say .... anyone any thoughts?

Happy New Year, all

John

Just purchased the couple of 2/4 brake duty and 2/4 brake timing solenoid as suggested to me by Trikey at the NEC this year. Have opted for genuine LR items (i know Mat Price sells good ones and I have been a satisfied customer of him in the past but he only had in stock the 2/4 brake solenoids)
LR parts are THT500040 for the 2/4 brake duty and THT500050 for the 2/4 brake timing one.
Gasket has been purchased from Maktrans of Poland (https://maktrans.net/index.php ). It's a cork gasket. My car runs fine however, sometimes not always, I can "notice" the shift from 2 to 3 and when shifting down. That's why I want to replace the two solenoids

Fwiw, assuming you’re still driving a diesel, it may be worth checking the type / condition of your lower engine mount.
See post 226 onwards of this thread..

I bought one of Matts solenoids, but I’m glad I checked & changed the engine mount before working on the gearbox.
Still, the solenoid can sit on “the spares shelf”, should it ever be needed.🙄
So far, with the changed mount, I’ve had no thunking, when downshifting.
Im due a long drive tomorrow, so that’ll be the real tester.🤔

The V6 thunks on gears when the mount has gone as well. Had two like it! Got it now with the ZT!
