Default Help with front strut reassembly

I have not taken enough care when taking apart the front strut. I was a bit scared undoing the centre nut in case everything sprung apart like a rocket and cause injury

The top plate with the 3 bolts is angled. which way does the angle face?

There is a big rubber ring at the top, one side has a big chamfer, which side does the big chamfer go? Down?

This may help you (attached).

The top plate should swivel when tightened so the position doesn't matter on assembly.

I'm sure the 3 studs will only fit through one way, due to the unequel distance between them. I'm thinking this from recall and could well be wrong.

Don't undo the centre nut untill the spring is compressed with a spring compressor.

Good point but I assumed the OP already had it stripped down.

already stripped down before I realised I had seen the top plate was angled. yes used spring compressors, first time ever. i'm sure long time ago there was a thread on the forum about using them and the dangers.

i'll offer the top plate up and check bolt spacing

appreciate the help
