Default Power steering pump renewal

Hi,

I will attempt on Monday to sort out my failing Power Steering Pump with an used one, that is supposed to be good to go

Is there anything I should be aware of before attempting the transplant ?

Plenty of rags over the alternator to protect against any spillage.

And if I remember correctly you have to remove the pump pulley for access to the mounting bolts so easier if you loosen the pulley bolts before removing the serpentine belt.

Ok still needs doing but am stumped.

1. How do you get the the PS Pump off, ie spanner sizes or what type as I have nothing that can fit to get at the nut, and

2. How do I slacken the belt ?

Please help....

The undertray has to be removed and the tensioner must be pulled back with a 24mm spanner to allow the serpentine belt to be removed Andrew. Easier with a modified or special spanner but Arctic found a long standard one that does the job.

Before you do that though loosen the 3 small bolts that hold the power steering pump pulley, as that has to come off before the pump can be removed.

The spanner sizes are a bit odd (can't remember the exact sizes) but a cheap standard set should have everything required along with an adjustable or two for the hydraulic fittings.

24mm aviation spanner, while you are doing the job check the belts to see if they need changing

Andrew I bought the set as a single spanner can cost £14 upwards a 24mm single £25.95 and they do come in and are very useful, ie even for the lower wishbone mounts
