Started stripping down the 2nd spare HP pump I have, in anticipation of a rebuild for the the spare 75.

Hopefully it'll go nice and smoothly - but we know how these things often are...

Fitted new Continental winter tyres on Comets to the Auto Tourer, and fitted bolts to hold the handbrakes shoes in place where the backplate on one side had rusted.

Initial impressions of the Continentals are that they are a little noiser than the Nokians I have on my other Tourer, but they seem very good at cutting through standing water.

Also painted the calipers yellow because I could!

I'm in the middle of my cam belt change but but the weather was awful today so I polished up some of the engine parts.

Should make the engine look good when I get it built back up.

Hi Barney Bear (Tony). In your post you say about a sticking piston in the caliper. I think you will find that the culprit was the slider pins that the caliper activates when you operate the brakes. These sometimes stick and the pad on that side opposite the cylinder do not move very well. I always clean mine every year when checking the brakes. I then put a small amount of Vaseline (just a smear) on the pins when I put them back in. Never had any trouble with mine. Hope this helps .

I grease the sliders up with copper slip, I needed to give the piston a bit of a clean up with emery paper also though as the rubber boot/seal that sits around it had a small hole in it So it was definitely the piston that was grabbing, all sorted now though Brakes are great on our Rosey ever since my tinkering

Unfortunately, I was unable to get good access to the top nut so had to drop the suspension strut. It all went back together easy enough. As it was beginning to get dark I left the drivers side to today.

Started quite nicely today, dropped the strut, released the droplink then the fun began. While maneuvering the strut I stressed the brake hose which then started leaking.
I then spent far too long wrestling with the strut trying to get it to line up through the turret, without any success. I had to give up for today, I was getting very frustrated.
I had considered removing the strut from the hub carrier but my 15mm socket couldn't take it and split.

I wish I hadn't started, but I'm in too far now.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
I always grind the old drop links off and then fit new ones

Hang on John that isn't a Rover 75.

As far as I know lubricating the sliders isn't specified on our calipers, but a good clean out is a good idea.

Must admit I usually add a thin smear of grease out of habit.

I've always used copper slip on my caliper sliders, I've got the LM grease as well so do you think I should strip them off again and use the LM? I've never had a problem tbh with the copper
