Saw mention on .org that recon auto boxes were now available from Xpart but no price mentioned.
Contacted Xpart to confirm and enquire price. No details, only told they do not deal direct.
Phoned local Xpart (Marshalls, Cambridge) who confirmed availability.
THEN THE SHOCK. How much..... Supply only £1854.00 (plus, I assume, VAT)
TOTAL £2178.45

Thats madness. Recon box from Ashcroft Teansmissions is £850

Then asked how much for new box. £2547.00 (+ VAT I assume)

Sorry. Xpart must be longing for the likes of SMC to dry up 'cause they are sure as fate going to screw us into the ground for spares...... and I reckon I can hear the reasons and excuses allready.

That is about the same price I was quoted for a new box a couple of years back, less than having mine reconditioned anyway. And if you think that is expensive, then the local dealer quoted me £4,000 for them to recondition it! Talk about taking the rise, I knew they would sub the work out to a garage about a mile away as they couldn't do it themselves!
