Name the Part
So, can anyone here identify the 2 parts highlighted in the picture below?
Firstly, what is the metal connector/sensor thingy bolted to the power steering doohickey, and why doesn't my car have one? I'm guessing the second part of the question will become apparent once the part is identified . Secondly, the black plastic cover that fits over the power steering doohickey: I've never seen one before, and my '75 doesn't have one . Is this another project Drive thing? Cheers, Cliff Oops, the photo!

Cant say I've ever noticed the sensor Cliff!
The plastic cover was only fitted to the early cars.

Re the plastic cover, it would seem that I am now going to have to start hunting for an elusive part once again. I've never seen one before and had no idea they existed 'till today. Yup! Cliff

Just done a quick check on Rimmers - really should have thought of that first! It seems the plastic cover is still available, so I've ordered one. Lets see what tuns up .

My Launch model has this, apparently a pressure sensor. When I changed the
power steering pump the replacement just had this blanked off. I removed the blanking plug and fitted the sensor. i am lead to believe the connector is just left there redundant on later models.

My 2001 v6 used to have the plastic cover on the pump , but when I fitted a recon pump the body dimensions were marginally different and the cover wouldn't fit in . So I had to leave it off

Brilliant - thanks Dave, mystery solved . The car in the photo is on a "Y" plate, so is quite an early example.

And for Toaf users - if you don't have the sensor fitted you'll end up with an error code P0553 - ignore unless you do have one fitted. Noted a friend's 2002 V6 had a sensor but both my 2000 and 2004 don't, even though both have traction control.
