Non starting diesel when engine warm
Am on for a friend who has a Diesel tourer (2ltr CDTI) - has had problems starting recently - we have discussed whether it could be a damp ECU - but it seems that the car fails to start only when the engine is hot after a run- starts OK first thing in the morning. Is this a symptom of a failing camshaft sensor?

With those symptoms, it sounds that the camshaft sensor is a likely suspect.
When failing, they play up when hot, but are okay on a cold start.

Yes sounds like it could be a cam sensor issue, classic symptoms
Have had one though where the ECU had failed. Once it got over a certain temperature it would cut out and then wouldn't start again until it had cooled down. So you never know but I'd go with the sensor first. Russ

Or injector leakback
CMP sensor first, followed by a bottle test on the injectors Brian |

Mine had the same symptoms fault was 2 injectors leaking back, try doing quick leakback test ,pop the fuel feeds off the injectors clamp the return pipe and turn the ignition so the fuel pump starts DONT start the engine if you can see fuel filling the pots on top the injectors the are leaking back.

First thing I would do is get myself a can of freezer spray, or if you don’t have freezer spray start the car up early in the morning leave it running get it to optimum temperature leave it parked outside the house, switch the engine off wait 5 or 10 minutes try starting again, when it doesn’t start remove the camsensor clean it and pop it in the fridge for 10 minutes, then pop back out to the car re-fit it and see if the car starts, I often find that suspect cam sensors will work again straight out of the fridge. If it does that kind of identifies the problem because cams sensors work well when they are cold.
If you can rule the cam sensor out of the equation I would move on to injector leak back test, as Brian has mentioned above If you need a cam sensor just give me a shout Mick
