Right I drained the water again flushed out the radiator and also put a pressure washer on low pressure to flush out the oil cooler one of the ports was completely blocked now when I tried to bleed it using mg Rover bleeding procedure nothing came out of the bleed hole so I started it up undone the vent pipe on the expansion tank and blew through it then there was a jet of water out of the bleed screw hole now on putting the bleed screw back in the plastic bit with the threads in must have been pushed out as I can't put the screw back in now

Pete,

i hope that you got a good night's sleep. Consider taking a day off from car repairs today. If the weather's good where you are, tidy the garden or go out for the day. I did warn you that you'd be in for a long haul with this one. It will not seem so bad if you let your mental batteries recharge for a short while.

Now, the problem you encountered with the bleed screw is not major is it, and it certainly does not justify involving a garage. Drain the coolant, remove the hose and identify what's wrong and see if you can repair it. If not, buy a replacement hose from Rimmer Brothers and fit it then continue with the task of trying to flush out all the K-seal. I'm afraid that there is no easy solution to what has been done to this car. A garage is not the answer.

Keep calm and carry on!

Simon

What I forgot to post is that when I drained the block and took the bottom hose off the radiator is that the expansion tank was still full I had to disconnect that and drain it seperataly. These cars seem rare in scrapyards round me I must have rang 5 yards and none had any 75's in a couple didn't even have any rovers in

You've still got a k-seal induced blockage then!
If your VIN is post 235721, the oil cooler is still a suspect since the expansion tank drains through it.

That's good, but I suppose it all depends on the flow rate through the cooler.
