Recently when I had the dreaded rattle, had all the bits and pieces changed it was found the tensioner had seized up solid and was fraying the belt was told very lucky the belt had not broken in two.

Here you go Chris. It's the pdf file at the foot of this post:

KV6 timing belt tensioner pulley set-up procedure by INA.

Thanks! Is it just the INA one which needs to be setup, or is it the same for all makes? What was you decision making process for choosing INA over xpart or other OEM variants?

Because INA are the original OEM manufacturer

It's the same for all makes. INA are the only manufacturer to publish the set-up procedure.

I didn't choose INA. I bought a Gates kit which included the tensioner pulley because it was better value for money than buying the pulley and idler separately. However, considering Gates' good reputation, I was disappointed to find no instructions enclosed to set-up the pulley correctly (and it's not in MGR's documentation supplied to dealers either). Any home mechanic or garage, it makes no difference, unaware of this procedure would understandably assume that the pulley just needs to be fitted as supplied; not so! I checked mine and it definitely required the INA adjustment.
