Default Hermes

Has anyone had any trouble with these making deliveries? I've had a couple in the past that were bad, but I am pulling my hair out today! I bought a DD unit for Paul's car. I let the seller leave it in his car until he got the new one in from Jubarelly. He booked 24 hour delivery with Hermes Wednesday night, dropped it off first thing Thursday morning.

I made sure my neighbour could take it until I got home at 1pm today. And of course, no parcel. I checked online and it isn't even with a courier. But there is no contact info for Hermes to ask. Only web chat based in India by the looks of it.

And they will tell you ZIP. All I got was wait 24 hours then look at tracking again. But we paid 24 hour delivery. Yes but it is still at the hub, wait 24 hours and check if its moved...

I ask for complaints. I get an e-mail address - that doesn't actually work any more. They seem uncertain where the DD is, or why it hasn't moved. They won't redirect to my workplace as I won't be in Monday, obviously, and after 3 attempts it goes back - and they won't let me pick it up.

Good grief, and I used to think Royal Mail were bad....

Cool

Had a parcel delivered by Hermes on the day and time stated, and the first time of them being used. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.

Hermes are a right royal pain, we have had loads of items arrive broken, and parts we have sent out have been destroyed by them (a scuttle panel in three pieces and you know how well Deb packages items!)

Stopped using them ages ago, Royal Mail can have the extra few ££ at least the service they give is good.

I would have preferred Royal Mail but I didn't think to say anything. When I realized who was bringing it I expected the worst and got it. I only hope IF I get my hands on it, its in one piece! They avoid giving any contact details on pain of death. And the ones they give out don't work! They are supposed to call me, I bet it doesn't happen. The chap sending the DD is fuming. Well, we both are!

I know a Hermes courier, I would never use them for valuable or fragile items.

Like a lot of these carriers it seems to vary from depot to depot. We have recently had the depot for some of the carriers moved from Didcot to Swindon. We have had no trouble with any of them until we now are under the Swindon depot's.

Non delivery due to ''address does not exist'' even though I was home and nobody rung.
Wrong delivery address so I end up walking several doors to do there job.
Items damaged to the point that it looks like they have been having a football match with the box.
Items lost twice.
Before the change TNT would deliver a parcel to my home address even though it was for my work address if he saw my van on the drive.
Parcel force driver would drop a parcel in my porch and if there was duty to be paid would leave a note saying '' he would pick up the cash tomorrow if I left it for him in the usual place''
The final one we had this weekend was, I looked online and a parcel was '' out for delivery'' so we waited in all morning. At 12.30 the status changed to ''nobody home and will be delivered next week'' He obviously wanted to finish early so did not even bother.

Hermes, TNT, Parcel Force and Yodel are all as bad as each other, if you are lucky and get a good local depot and driver you are lucky if not just keep your fingers crossed and hopefully what you have coming is not fragile.

Had dealings with this company last week through no fault of our own. They were unable to deliver a parcel because we both work long hours so a card was put through the door with first attempt to deliver ticked but no other info marked on the card. Next day the same card and second delivery attempted and no other details of who to contact or parcel number etc. The next delivery was going do be the final attempt so I stuck it to my front door marked ' Can you leave some details please !!' This time a mobile number was left so I was able to tell them to leave the parcel in a safe place if it wasn't too difficult !

Thick as mince I tell ya !

The last thing a driver wants to do is attempt to deliver a parcel 3 times, when the driver could simply ring recipient to ask where parcel can be left the first time. Because the person booking, did not fill in the booking form requested details clearly laid out on the booking form.

Safe place: specify a safe place, or neighbour.
Contact phone number: in case of none delivery.
Email address: for delivery and tracking info.

All that has to be done, isfill in the requested booking form details, that is between the sender and recipient.

My weirdest delivery instructions, urgent parcel for someone camping at a GoldWing event at a caravan park, who dropped his alarm fob in water. Parcel was needed the next day.

DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS
Hand parcel in at reception who will sign for delivery.
Reception>URGENT give to GoldWing event organiser with beard ASAP.

Text from recipient
UH... WHAT...... club secretary just came over to my tent and gave me a parcel with my spare alarm fob in it. Looking at it but don't believe it. I WAS IN MY TENT

Scumbag employees who lie through their back teeth at an interview, sad but true.

I gave Hermes my phone number. I asked them to deliver to my work down the road and they refused. They refused safe place as it was signed for and their site has no option to leave instructions. It did eventually arrive but despite being promised twice complaints would call within 24 hours, no one rang. Useless company. The courier chap is a nice bloke but the problems alwas occur before him...
